After a more than year of research, reviewing, interviewing, decision making and the installation of a new roof, the project has begun to install a solar system onto our church.
This project will benefit the church for many years to come with savings on electricity and helping our church to be more Green.
During the construction phase and installation phase of the project, we may have to use the kitchen door to enter the church from the main parking lot.
On Friday, June 14th, 2019, Pride roofing installed a new roof at Christ Congregational Church UCC.
The people started showing up at about 6:50AM, and by 7:30am there were 52 workers on site.
Ladders and tarps went up quickly, and they started stripping the roof of the old shingles. The stripping of the old shingles took less than two hours.
Next came six feet of ice and water shield, and Dek armor installed to the ridge. Again, done in about two hours.
Next came the installation of CertainTeed Shingles. This process took the rest of the day.
Everything went off without a hitch and the entire church was re-shingled by dusk. It was a very exciting day for all of us that were able to witness this event.
Kudos go to the site supervisors, Tim, Louis, and John. They ran the crews as if the crews were a well-oiled machine. There were people with nail guns, people lugging shingles, and people on the ground continuously picking up debris. An incredibly well choreographed show.
Work to replace the roof at Brockton UCC has begun.
Pride Roofing has descended on our church with an army.
Check out the pictures below.
The new roof will not only fix problems, but lay the foundation for a major solar project that will begin later this summer.
On Sunday, March 17 we had our Bach Birthday Bash with organist Andrew Sheranian and Sylvia Berry with her group, The Berry Collective. They presented amazing music from Bach using our organ and some instruments from the period of Bach’s life.
At this event we had a mini organ called “Kotzsch in a Box”. It is a “puzzle” organ coming to us from Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ (FOKO) where people can see how organs actually work.
And of course the event wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the tireless efforts of the Organ Completion Committee, and many other volunteers. The committee is working on Project Pipes to complete the organ at Brockton UCC.
