Highlights at Christ Congregational Church

A year at a glance:

September: Registration and Rally Day – usually the first Sunday after Labor Day, marks the beginning of Church School and a “Rally” back to church.  Many activities and ministries resume: choirs, hand bells, Bible studies, quilting group, Young at Heart seniors group, and committees.  The Fall Stewardship Pledge Drive offers members and friends a chance to make their annual financial pledge to the church so that committees and Church Council may plan the budget for the coming year (September or October)
October:  October sees the beginning of youth groups, confirmation for 9th and 10th graders,  the CROP walk for hunger, and usually a Halloween event.
November: First Saturday is the Church Fair – an all church amazing event.  Don’t miss it! The first Sunday in November we mark All Souls Day with a reading of the names of loved ones who have died in the previous twelve months.  The All Church-Family Thanksgiving Dinner follows worship on the Sunday before Thanksgiving – we fill the fellowship hall with wonderful food and fine fellowship.
December:  Advent (the four Sundays before Christmas) is filled with special worship services, including a Lessons and Carols Sunday and a Christmas Pageant.  The season begins with a Christmas crafts workshop and light supper (Advent Workshop, for all ages).   A special musical Christmas program is prepared and presented by our choir.
Christmas Eve services are held at 7:00pm and 11:00pm.  Both services include Communion, candles and festive music.
The Night Before New Year’s Eve’ intergenerational party is held on December 30.
Lent: Christ Church celebrates Fat Tuesday on Ash Wednesday with an early Pancake Supper, then we head upstairs for Ash Wednesday service.  Lent has special studies and gatherings, and ends in Holy Week with special services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
We have an annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children on Holy Saturday, and sunrise service, breakfast and Easter Celebration on Easter morning.    First Communion: for our first grade children is on Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter). Confirmation: for our high school students who complete their two year program is on Pentecost (7 weeks after Easter).
May: Brings Mother’s Day with special flowers given to everyone who serves as a mother.
June: Includes Baccalaureate Sunday where college scholarships are awarded, Children’s Day and Father’s Day
Summer: holds various fellowship activities, vacation bible school, and worship in our newly air conditioned sanctuary.
